General Skilled Migration

The General skilled migration is the kind of migration where the on-demand occupation lists are revised every year. The candidate selections are based on a merit-based system where the applicants are qualified on the basis of Age, Qualification, Work Experience, English Language Proficiency etc.

The department of migration offers multiple pathways for aspirants when applying for the skilled migration. It has been divided into the following visa subclasses:

  • Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189)
  • Skilled Regional Visa (subclass 491)
  • Skilled State Nominated Visa (subclass 190)

Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189)

The 189 Visa is an independent skilled immigrant visa which would allow the beneficiary to work and live in any part of Australia.

To be eligible for this visa the candidate must:

  1. The projected occupation on the Medium and long term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).
  2. Have an appropriate migration skills assessment report for the occupation.
  3. Meet the minimum points requirement of 65 points.
  4. Be below forty five years aged whereas receiving the invite from the immigration.
  5. Have required level of English language test result.This visa is valid for 5 years from the date of visa approval.

Regional (Provisional) Skilled Visa (subclass 491)

This is a five-year provisional visa which would allow the beneficiary to apply for a permanent residency in Australia.

To be eligible for this visa the candidate must:

  1. Be appointed by a state or territory or by an eligible relative sponsorship.
  2. Have a relevant occupation on the nominated list.
  3. Meet the minimum points requirement of 65 points.
  4. Be less than forty five years by the time of receiving the invite from the immigration.
  5. Have required level of English language test results.This visa is valid for 5 years from the date of visa approval within which it’s obligatory for the beneficiary to stay and work in the appointed state for initial three years.

 

State Nominated Skilled Visa (subclass 190)

This visa is granted by a territory or state sponsorship.

To be eligible for this visa the candidate must:

  1. The proposed occupation on the Medium and long-run Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).
  2. Have an appropriate migration skills assessment report for the occupation.
  3. Meet the minimum points requirement of 65 points.
  4. Be nominated by a state or territory agency.
  5. Be less than forty five years elderly whereas receiving the invite from the immigration.
  6. Have required level of English language test results.This visa is valid for five years from the date of visa approval in which it’s obligatory for the beneficiary to live in the nominated state for first two years.
